Overview
We are an alternative education provision that offers young people an opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in a sporting environment. Our aim is to allow the young people attending our provision to achieve recognised qualifications that will enable them to move forward along their career path. This is done through small group work sessions (maximum of 10), bespoke learning plans to meet each individual's needs, differential learning methods and understanding tutors. We offer 2 courses; Course 1 - Level 1 YMCA Award - Healthy Champions 12 week course in which young people will develop into peer educators, allowing the learners to develop their knowledge of issues affecting young people and communicate their learning to others. The areas of learning include; Key information and facts relating to health and well-being messages in subjects such as: • Healthy weight and healthy eating • Physical activity • Body image • Developing confidence and self-esteem • Feelings and emotions • Recognising and dealing with bullying, drugs and substance misuse • Alcohol misuse • Relationships and sexual health • Smoking awareness Course 2 - Level 1 YMCA Award - Fitness and Physical Activ
