About AP Directory
Finding the right support shouldn't feel impossible.
AP Directory was created with a simple belief in mind: finding the right support for your child should not feel impossible.
Many families feel confused or let down when mainstream school isn't working for their child. And yet across the country, there are incredible alternative provisions and specialists doing life-changing work. The challenge is knowing where to look, and how to make sense of it all.

The person behind it
Laura Crawford
I'm Laura Crawford, an experienced secondary teacher. Over the years, I've worked with young people with a wide range of needs and circumstances, and I've seen firsthand the difference that the right environment can make.
That experience, alongside my work with Creative Learners, made one thing clear. No single provision is right for every child. AP Directory exists to help families see what is actually out there.
Also behind
We're building more than just a list. We're creating a wider resource hub with signposting to specialists, services, and support pathways. All in one place. It's designed with parents in mind, but we hope it will be useful to schools, professionals, and anyone supporting a young person.
And yes, it's completely free to use. Because when a child needs something different, finding that support is hard enough.
Free, always
When a child needs something different, finding that support shouldn't cost the family anything. AP Directory is, and always will be, free to use.
No single right answer
No single provision is right for every child. We help families see what's actually out there, so they can judge fit for themselves.
Built for everyone in the picture
Designed with parents in mind, but built to be useful for schools, local authorities, and the professionals supporting a young person.
